We’re hiring Senior Software Engineers to participate in the design and development of the underlying Algorithmia platform. We work with Scala, Docker, Kubernetes, large-scale distributed systems, modern microservices architecture, and cutting-edge cloud infrastructure on AWS, Azure, and on-premises with VMWare.

As a Senior Software Engineer at Algorithmia, you will:

  • Work with a collaborative, distributed team on the cutting edge of AI/ML infrastructure.
  • Create stateless and stateful services running on Kubernetes using:
  • Scala 2.13, Play 2.8, and Java 15.
  • Data services like MySQL, RabbitMQ, and Redis.
  • Monitoring services like Prometheus, Grafana, and Elasticsearch.
  • Build and run secure, reliable, and performant distributed services that support a global customer base.
  • Contribute to team design reviews, brown bags, and training sessions to share knowledge around the team.
  • Have meaningful opportunities for career growth, mentorship, promotion, technical leadership, and/or people management based on your interests.
  • Work from anywhere in the USA or Canada. We have teams in Seattle and Toronto - or go 100% remote from home.

  • Are committed to learn on the job, and able to contribute in unfamiliar codebases.
  • Have 6 or more years of experience in software engineering roles using any of Scala, Java, Golang, C++ or C#.
  • Have experience with asynchronous programming and building scalable, highly concurrent distributed systems.
  • Want to move quickly from design to implementation, and rapidly iterate on product ideas in a bleeding edge field.
  • Enjoy the engineering process from reviewing product requirements, developing high-level technical designs, and leading teams through implementation.
  • Use code reviews to learn about new work, spot bugs, and teach software engineering best practices to your peers.
  • Care about software maintainability and testability.
  • Have deep empathy for users, and want to build the best experience for them.
  • Are interested in developing and shaping standards, processes, tools to improve the team.
  • Look to learn and share knowledge within a team and mentor others.
  • Are authorized to work in the US or Canada without sponsorship.

Experience and interest in any of the following is a plus:

  • Operating Kubernetes clusters or designing cloud-native applications.
  • RabbitMQ, Kafka, SQS or other message broker technologies.
  • API Design and version management for internal and external customers.
  • Network architecture including IPSec, DNS, HTTP(S) or SOCKS5 proxies.
  • Enterprise security systems and tooling like SAML, security scanning, SELinux.
  • Data science, AI, ML experience or managing and working with CUDA and GPUs.
  • Open source, public code.
