Chief Engineer- PLD/FPGA Design

About the Role:

BAE Systems is seeking a Chief Engineer specializing in programmable logic device (PLD) development.

The qualified candidate will serve as the chief engineer for PLD/FPGA design and development. The role includes responsibility for all product types and will report to the Hardware Engineering Leader. This role contains responsibilities including providing technical leadership and guidance in the development, process, and delivery of all aspects of PLD development, architecting and quoting new business proposal activities, proposing, presenting and leading process improvement activities, working with senior management on PLD related items, representing the company on external engagements (e.g., certification, industry committees, suppliers/customers), and chairing PLD design reviews. This role leads the continuous improvement of our PLD process and design ensuring our organization remains cost competitive with leading edge technology.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and 10-15 years work experience in a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with business leaders, technical leaders, peers, subordinates, and customers.
  • Extensive proven experience and knowledge of PLD technologies, development tools, and techniques across multiple product lines
  • A recognized technical leader capable of providing direction and robust engineering judgement in all phases of the PLD development lifecycle across our range of products including: System Functional partitioning System Architecture definition Application of DO-254 through to Certification
  • Experience of senior management engagement in providing technical briefings, outlining process improvement proposals, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive technical decisions and possess a strong technical writing and presentation skills.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • MS in engineering discipline and 15+ years’ experience.
