The Role

What You'll Do

• First Week: You will learn about Column's mission and vision, seek to understand our existing finance and revenue processes, and begin meeting other folks on the team. We're a small company that's growing quickly, so interpersonal rapport is essential.
• First Month: You will conduct a comprehensive review of our existing financial procedures and build out an accounting road map to address gaps and optimize current processes. You will take ownership of the full accounts receivable process, including invoice preparation, collections, and A/R maintenance.
• First Six Months: You will own the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes to ensure timely, accurate, GAAP compliant accounting. You will set accounting policies and procedures and provide guidance on technical accounting. You will assist in annual audits, taxes, and other aspects of compliance.
• First Year: You will work with our sales and engineering teams to evolve our reporting to match product changes and new methods of selling our solutions. You will own and prepare accounting processes for scale, from automation and financial integrations to internal processes and controls. You will be an impactful early finance hire at a rapidly growing tech start-up that believes we have the potential to be a once in a generation company.

Our Ideal Candidate

• You're looking for a remote-first role working with wildly talented people who care about their impact on local communities
• You have accounting experience in or with a high transaction volume software marketplace (Instacart, AirBnB, StockX, etc.)
• You have accounting, auditing, or associate experience at a Big Four (Deloitte, PwC, KPMG, EY) or regional accounting firm
• You can explain how accounting systems and integrations work at-scale in marketplace environments
• You are excited to build out relevant infrastructure for Column's environment and products, bonus points if you can setup financial integrations (Stripe to Quickbooks) or provide direction to an engineering team on how to do so
• You have a strong desire to exemplify our operating principles — be worthy of trust, do the hard work, never stop learning, intentionally build community, and tell a better story

Compensation and Benefits

• Base salary of $120,000 – $150,000 commensurate with experience, plus stock options and 401k plan with 5% match
