As a Sr. Staff Site Reliability Engineer, you will be a key technical leader and role model in the AI SRE organization that’s focused on building scalable and reliable AI(Artificial Intelligence)/ML(Machine Learning) platforms. AI/ML platforms power many LinkedIn applications (e.g., search, recommendation, ranking) and is one of the most important technologies that drive business value. As the industry moves towards AI, increasingly our engineering efforts are focused on improving productivity by developing and deploying AI/ML solutions at scale in a sustainable way enabling industrialization of AI. Being a technical lead on a team responsible for accelerating migration of our infrastructure to Azure to leverage capabilities in the public cloud as we embark on a migration from on-prem to Azure in the next subsequent years. The candidate is also expected to mentor and set/up-level the craftsmanship bar for the team. A leader in this role will foster LinkedIn’s culture and values around transformation, collaboration and results. This position is full-time and based in our offices in Sunnyvale.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Influence and drive architecture and design decisions for the AI/ML platform ecosystem with Site Up as the #1 Priority.
  • Our data footprint continues to grow exponentially beyond 10s of thousands of servers, 100s of petabytes of storage, 10s of trillions of events/messages - arrive at a cohesive strategy and best practices to continue to scale our footprint 10x.
  • Architect, lead, and build the next generation of AI/ML infrastructure that powers every LinkedIn business.
  • Cloud based ecosystems are quickly evolving. As part of this role you will need to keep up with cloud trends for AI/ML computations, large scale infrastructure management & performance best practices and help define our strategy and roadmap to set us up to be competitive and get ahead of the trends.
  • Provide architectural guidance, develop and mentor to up-level the engineering organization while actively improve the level of craftsmanship at LinkedIn by developing best practices and defining best strategies.
  • Influence and drive architecture and design decisions with Site Up as the #1 Priority.
  • Drive consensus across multiple cross functional teams in a matrixed organization to get alignment and build a strong team culture.

Basic Qualifications:

  • BA/BS Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7+ years relevant engineering experience in software design/development with at least 2 years of experience in an architect or leadership position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10+ years relevant engineering experience in software design/development.
  • 10+ years programming experience in an object-oriented programming language such as Java, C/C++.
  • Knowledge of AI/machine learning and data mining techniques.
  • Experience with large-scale distributed systems and client-server architectures.
  • Experience architecting and launching complex AI and engineering projects.
