As a Sr. Staff Data Scientist, you will be a key technical leader and role model within an organization. We are looking for someone who designs and develops technology to serve business and technology objectives, aligns points of view across teams and makes smart trade offs to help achieve the goals of individual teams as well as LinkedIn’s broader goals. This leader will foster LinkedIn’s culture and values around transformation, collaboration and results. This position is full-time and based in our offices indicated on the job posting.

LinkedIn Data Science team has 200+ data scientists, distributed in US (Sunnyvale, Mountain View, San Francisco, New York), India, Dublin. We leverage scientific methods, processes, algorithms and systems to extract knowledge and insights from data. Our work spans across member engagement, growth, monetization, operations and Economic Graph. With over 500 million members around the world, a focus on member value, and a mix of B2B and B2C programs, a career at LinkedIn offers countless ways for an ambitious data scientist to have an impact.

This org is looking for Sr. Staff+ Technical Lead/Architect to lead the overall technical direction of our Data Science solutions. In addition to setting the strategy, you will also be leading and mentoring other data scientists in your projects.


  • Deliver impact by driving innovation while building and shipping software at scale.
  • Provide architectural guidance and mentorship to up-level the engineering organization.
  • Actively improve the level of craftsmanship at LinkedIn by developing best practices and defining best strategies.
  • Design products/services/tools and code that can be used by others while upholding operational impact of all decisions.
  • Identify problems and opportunities and lead teams to architect, design, implement and operationalize systems.
  • Work closely with and influence product and/or technology partners regularly to help define roadmap.
  • Resolve conflicts between teams within the organization to get alignment and build team culture.
  • Review others’ work and share knowledge.

Basic Qualifications:

  • BA/BS Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years’ experience in software design, development, and algorithm related solutions with at least 2 years of experience in an architect or leadership position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Statistics, Economics, Computer Science or related field.
  • Publications in prestigious academic conferences.
  • Expert in Statistical inference and algorithms, and significant experience with experimentation and data visualization techniques and tools (e.g. D3).
  • Demonstrated ability to work with peers in engineering and product management across teams to set technical and product direction.
  • Excellent communications skills, with the ability to synthesize, simplify and explain complex problems to different types of audience, including executives.
