Feed Infra is looking for a strong Tech Lead to work on the next generation of Feed Infra. In this role, you will have enormous opportunities around scalability and AI productivity, working with engineers, managers and partners to create the vision and build a technical roadmap. You will also act as a role model and mentor engineers on areas like craftsmanship and execution. Ideal candidates should have strong experience in large scale & low latency distributed systems, Java memory optimizations, GC tuning and proven track record of driving cross functional projects to completion.
LinkedIn Feed is fundamental to the success of the company’s ‘active community’ strategy and in driving marketing solutions revenue. Feed Infrastructure is a large-scale distributed system that powers LinkedIn’s newsfeed.
It is composed of multiple business critical services responsible for serving and indexing feed activities. This infrastructure poses a unique set of challenges in 3 dimensions.
1. Scale – 10s of thousands of QPS, multiple terabytes of data, and running expensive scoring operations for millions of records per second.
2. Relevance – Our relevance partners experiment with hundreds of new ML models per quarter using thousands of features. Feed Infra needs to provide easy to use infrastructure to enable relevance engineers to experiment with novel solutions at a fast pace.
3. Product Agility – Feed Infra powers a large number of use cases – Feed, Stories, Hashtags, QnA, Polls, Events and many others. It requires infra to provide capabilities to onboard new use cases quickly and enable product engineers to experiment with new ideas with minimal friction.
