As a Staff Software Engineer, you will be a key technical leader and role model within the team. We are looking for someone who designs and develops technology to serve business and technology objectives, aligns points of view across teams and makes smart trade offs to help achieve the goals of individual teams as well as LinkedIn’s broader goals. This leader will foster LinkedIn’s culture and values around transformation, collaboration and results.

You will apply your technical leadership skills to drive clarity and alignment in the areas of design, code, deployment, fleet availability, workflow orchestration and resource utilization, at LinkedIn scale. Your efforts will drive higher levels of productivity and efficiency for the entire engineering organization.


  • You will deliver impact by driving innovation while building and shipping software at scale.
  • You will provide architectural guidance and mentorship to up-level the engineering team.
  • You will actively improve the level of craftsmanship at LinkedIn by developing best practices and defining best strategies.
  • You will design products/services/tools and code that can be used by others while upholding operational impact of all decisions.
  • You will identify problems and opportunities and lead teams to architect, design, implement and operationalize systems.
  • You will work closely with and influence product and/or technology partners regularly to help define roadmap.
  • You will handle technical conflicts and build team dynamics to foster alignment and collaboration within the team.
  • You will review others’ work and share knowledge.

Basic Qualifications:

  • BA/BS Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or related practical experience.
  • 4+ years experience in software design, development, and algorithm related solutions.
  • 4+ years programming experience in Go, Python, Java, C/C++, Objective-C, or Ruby.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BS and 8+ years of relevant work experience, MS and 7+ years of relevant work experience, or PhD and 4+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience with SDKs from Azure/AWS in building solutions on virtual machines (Azure VM or EC2), cloud storage (Azure blob, S3, cosmosDB), cloud networking and container offerings (AKS, ECS).
  • Experience with container platforms like Docker, Kubernetes, Openshift.
  • Experience in designing and building infrastructure and web services at large scale.
  • Experience building distributed, Internet-scale systems.
  • Experience with at least one of the major public cloud vendors, preferably Microsoft Azure
  • Thorough knowledge and experience of multi-threading, concurrency, and parallel processing technologies.
  • Experience with industry, open-source projects and/or academic research in large-data, parallel and distributed systems.
